JUSTIN MADDERS MP VISITS LOCAL BREAKFAST CLUB

Justin Madders MP, said: “Breakfast clubs are a great way to ensure pupils have access to a balanced and filling meal before school, which means they start the day focused and ready to learn. I’d like to thank Kellogg’s for arranging today’s visit and all the staff and volunteers at Parklands Community Primary School who make the breakfast club possible”.

Justin Madders MP visited a breakfast club at Parklands Community Primary School today.

The Labour MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston took the chance to learn about how one of the breakfast clubs in his constituency helps feed pupils and ensures that they get the best start to the day.

Parklands Community Primary School breakfast club has been running for ten years. Over 25 pupils ranging from three to eleven attend the school breakfast club every school day.

As well as the children getting breakfast at the club it acts as a time for them to develop their social skills and play with their friends as well as taking part in activities.

Head teacher, Rosalind Flanders, said: “We are very proud of our breakfast club and the benefits it provides to our pupils. Our club allows children to start their day on time, feeling calm and ready to learn.”

Forty-nine per cent of schools* said that their club has improved the concentration of the children. Breakfast clubs are fundamental to ensuring that children start their school day ready to learn.

Kellogg’s, whose breakfast club programme began 19 years ago, supports 3,000 breakfast clubs across the UK with training, cereal donations and funding so that schools can run a sustainable pre-school club.
