KATE GREEN MP VISITS LOCAL BREAKFAST CLUB

Kate Green MP visited a breakfast club at Acre Hall Primary School today.

The Labour MP for Stretford and Urmston took the chance to learn about how one of the breakfast clubs in her constituency helps feed pupils and ensures that they get the best start to the day.

Acre Hall Primary School’s breakfast club has been running for 10 years. Over 30 pupils ranging from four to eleven attend the school breakfast club every day.

As well as the children getting breakfast at the club it acts as a time for the children to relax and play with their friends over games, as well as drawing and little competitions.

Kate Green MP said: “Breakfast clubs are a great way to ensure pupils have access to a balanced and filling meal before school, which means they start the day focused and ready to learn. I’d like to thank Kellogg’s for arranging today’s visit and all the staff and volunteers at Acre Hall Primary School who make the breakfast club possible”.

Head teacher, Ashlea White said: “We are very proud of our breakfast club and the benefits it provides to our pupils. Our club allows children to start their day on time, feeling calm and ready to learn.”

49 per cent of schools* said that their club has improved the concentration of the children. Breakfast clubs are fundamental to ensuring that children start their school day ready to learn.

Kellogg’s, whose breakfast club programme began 18 years ago, supports 3,000 breakfast clubs across the UK with training, cereal donations and funding so that schools can run a sustainable pre-school club.
