LIFE-LONG CORN FLAKES FAN TO STAR IN NEW KELLOGG’S ADVERT

Two Irish sisters have been selected to star in Kellogg’s latest TV advert to tell the UK and Ireland how they eat their Corn Flakes.

Anita, who works in London, told how growing up the only food she would eat was Corn Flakes, said: “I was such a fussy eater and so when the rest of the family were having lasagne or stew, I would be eating a bowl of Corn Flakes. “My dad always called me ‘the cornflake kid’. I was introduced to them by my grandmother who loved them with hot milk and honey or sugar – so that is how I have always eaten them. Even now it is a real comfort food.”

Anita and Kate O’Hara, both originally from Sligo, Ireland, were handpicked for one of eight slots in the cereal giant’s latest ad after proving they were Corn Flakes biggest fans.

Earlier this year Kellogg’s took to social media to ask the UK and Ireland how they eat their perfect bowl of Corn Flakes cereal super fans.

Siblings Anita, 43, and Kate, 34, were whittled down from hundreds of applicants in an intensive interview process for their unusual breakfast recipe and life-long dedication to the food.

Thinking outside box, TV producer sister Kate, prefers her corn with orange juice and fruit, she said: “I think I read in a magazine years and years ago to try orange juice as a milk alternative, so I tried it and never looked back – it’s my favourite.

“For us Corn Flakes are a big part of our family life, my mum used to say she could always tell when Anita was worried or nursing a broken heart, she would reach for a comforting bowl of corn flakes! Even now we catch up at supper over a bowl.”

Last month, a film crew took over Anita’s London flat with cameras and lights and asked unusual and funny questions about their love of Corn Flakes.

Kate, added: “It was really good fun, we had good banter with the crew and I think they thought it was quite funny how much we love Corn Flakes.

“There was so much equipment it took them two hours to set up – we really felt like we were at the heart of the action. Now we just can’t wait to see them on TV.”

The ad campaign will feature a cast of eight real families and individuals, all genuine fans, talking about their ‘perfect bowl’ of Corn Flakes – and will debut on prime time TV on January 6th.

The decision to launch the nine month marketing campaign comes after a five year break in commercial advertising for the breakfast cereal.

A spokesperson from Kellogg’s, said: “We have seen a change in how people are eating cereal but also in what they are having for breakfast. Therefore we wanted to capture how our customers are eating Corn Flakes.

“After a long break from advertising, it is time for us to start talking about Corn Flakes again; our cast remind people what they love about this iconic cereal.”
