MIKE KANE MP VISITS LOCAL BREAKFAST CLUB
Head teacher, Helen Eken said: “We are very proud of our breakfast club and the benefits it provides to our pupils. Our club allows children to start their day on time, feeling calm and ready to learn. We have even seen an improvement in pupils’ concentration in the classroom as a result.”

Mike Kane MP visited a breakfast club at Benchill Primary School last Friday.
The Labour MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East took the chance to learn about how one of the breakfast clubs in his constituency helps feed pupils and ensures that they get the best start to the day.
Benchill Primary School breakfast club has been running for almost 20 years. Over 70 pupils ranging from three to eleven attend the school breakfast club every day.
As well as the children getting breakfast at the club it acts as a time for the children to relax and play with their friends over a game of chess, building with Lego or colouring.
Mike Kane MP said: “Breakfast clubs are a great way to ensure pupils have access to a balanced and filling meal before school, which means they start the day focused and ready to learn. I’d like to thank Kellogg’s for arranging today’s visit and all the staff and volunteers at Benchill Primary School who make the breakfast club possible”.

Forty-nine per cent of schools* said that their club has improved the concentration of the children. Breakfast clubs are fundamental to ensuring that children start their school day ready to learn.
Kellogg’s, whose breakfast club programme began 18 years ago, supports 3,000 breakfast clubs across the UK with training, cereal donations and funding so that schools can run a sustainable pre-school club.
