THE HOE-NLY WAY IS ESSEX - BILLIE FAIERS GOES FROM GLAM REALITY STAR TO FARMYARD HELPER
- TOWIE star mucks in at the farm and feeds a goat in new photoshoot
- Billie visits Kellogg’s farm after survey shows we want to live a simpler life and grow our own food
Billie Faiers traded her usual glamorous look for a more natural, farm-friendly glow yesterday at a Kellogg’s photoshoot.
The TOWIE regular, who wore denim shorts, wellies and a check shirt, is fronting Kellogg’s Origins campaign, which is all about learning where our food comes from.
Billie visited West Farm in Northamptonshire – which grows wheat for Kellogg’s cereals - following a survey of 2,000 people showing that 73% wanted to grow their own food and be self-sufficient.
The reasons for going back to a simpler life were many: when asked to name the things about modern life that they found the most irritating, some 64% cited seeing people glued to their mobile phones, 61% said bad manners and 47% said a lack of respect from children.
When it came to living a simpler life, respondents were most enthused about growing their own fruit and vegetables (67% said they’d be very enthusiastic about giving it a go), reading more books (54%) and doing more gardening (44%).
Billie said: “I had a great day at the farm away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
“My tips for living a simpler life would be going for a day without your mobile phone, learning how to grow your own food, and relaxing with a good magazine.”
Kellogg’s spokeswoman Louise Thompson-Davies said: “We’re used to seeing Billie glammed up on The Only Way Is Essex, but on the farm she was a great sport and loved learning about where her food comes from and mucked in with all the farm activities.
“Our survey shows that – like Billie – many of us want to go back to basics every once in a while, grow our own food and learn more about the origins of what we buy.
“The Kellogg’s Origins campaign celebrates the fact our best-loved family cereals, including Corn Flakes and Rice Krispies, come from sustainably farmed, instantly recognisable grains.”
The Kellogg’s Origins campaign lets shoppers redeem a “Grow Your Own” seed planter kit in exchange for three boxes of cereal.
